Broadcast live during Saturday night’s SXSW Gaming Awards, produced by IGN, professional esports commentator Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez hosted online content creators Cerberusarms, Naysy, ProjectJamesify, and Dan Ryckert (formerly of Giant Bomb) who battled it out to become the first ever Zombieland Invitational champion.
XR Games also announced a partnership with the VR Master League (VRML) to organise Zombieland Invitational esports events this year. It was also confirmed that the Zombieland VR: Headshot Fever will release for Oculus Quest on Thursday March 25th 2021.
“Love the challenging arcade style gameplay and the classic Zombieland humour it delivers. I had a blast.” – Naysy
Zombieland VR presents a new zombie killing racing sport that combines classic lightgun play from House of the Dead with the obsessive time-chasing of Trackmania. Fast and focused courses with high skill play make Zombieland VR fiercely addictive and highly watchable.
Influencers Cerberusarms, ProjectJamesify, Naysy, and Dan Ryckert battled it out to see who would achieve the fastest time in a knockout speedrun tournament. ProjectJamesify pulled ahead of Cerberusarms in tightly fought competition becoming the defending Zombieland Invitational champion.
“The headshot activated slowmo is seriously addictive.” – Cerberusarms
This was followed by the official announcement that XR Games, in collaboration with VR Master League (VRML), will be running a series of official Zombieland Invitational esports events in 2021 which is open to all sharpshooters.
