Leanne Taylor-Giles joins Drop Bear Bytes as Narrative Lead for Broken Roads
Rainbow Six and Watch_Dogs writer reunites with Torment Creative Lead
Torquay, Australia, February 3, 2021 – Drop Bear Bytes is excited to announce that Leanne Taylor-Giles has taken the helm as Narrative Lead on their upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG, Broken Roads.
Taylor-Giles joins the studio after nearly six years at Ubisoft Montreal, where she worked as a scriptwriter on Rainbow Six Siege and Watch_Dogs 2, with prior writing roles on the likes of Avatar: The Last Airbender – Into the Inferno and Destroy All Humans! 2.
It was Taylor-Giles’ work on the acclaimed 2016 RPG Torment: Tides of Numenera that now sees her reunited with Broken Roads’ Creative Lead, Colin McComb.
“We needed an Australian narrative lead,” says McComb. “It turns out I’d worked with a tremendously talented Australian before, and in an even happier coincidence, it turns out she was looking for a new opportunity. I’m absolutely delighted to get a chance to work with her again.”
Her arrival bolsters the studio’s growing team of writers, artists and developers from around the world, though Taylor-Giles is keen to set foot on Australian soil once more.
“I was delighted to hear that a branching CRPG with deep moral conflicts was being made in Australia,” says Taylor-Giles, “and even happier about it once I’d had a few meetings with the team. I’m overjoyed to have the chance to work with Colin again, and I can’t wait to get stuck into the world of Broken Roads to see where its interweaving storylines take us!”
Broken Roads is in development for PC and console, and is scheduled for release in late 2021.
About Broken Roads
Broken Roads is the upcoming debut title from Australian indie studio Drop Bear Bytes. Born of a love for traditional computer role-playing, Broken Roads provides a rich, engaging narrative in which players make their way across a desolated Western Australia.
Blending together traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering unlimited character development options, Broken Roads presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass. This novel design sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character’s philosophical leaning.
